Affiliation to the HU

15 October, 2018

Dear Colleagues,
Academic publications of faculty members are an important expression of our scientific contribution. Alongside the publication of our scientific findings, the publications mark a significant part of the University’s budget, and they greatly influence the ranking of the University in international standards. Lately we have discovered incidents where faculty members’ publications were not accounted for in evaluating the scientific contribution of the University because the authors neglected to cite their affiliation with the HU in their articles. We would like to remind all faculty members to cite in every scientific publication that your affiliation is with the HU. This is a regulation in the University’s guidelines to which we must adhere.
Hebrew University faculty members, in all academic tracks, should mention their Hebrew University’s affiliation.  The HU affiliation must appear whenever at least part of the research is conducted during the author’s appointment at the University. The HU should be mentioned as the principal institute of employment, even when a researcher has an appointment, permanent or temporary, at another institution (for example while on Sabbatical). The affiliation should include Department, Institute, School or Faculty, with the University’s full name: The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Thanks for your cooperation, and mainly for your important scientific contribution.
Yours, Asher and Barak
