Dear Members of the University Community,

We would like to inform you that the semester will begin this coming Sunday, March 22, with remote learning. Please note that Sunday, March 22 will be a day of instruction, contrary to what appeared in the original academic calendar. The Passover break will begin as scheduled on March 29, and on April 12, we will resume with the second week of teaching and studies. The format of instruction (in-person classes or remote learning) will be determined later, in accordance with Home Front Command guidelines.

The first week of instruction, beginning March 22, will provide instructors with an opportunity to get to know their students, introduce the course topic and objectives, review the course structure in detail, and explain the expectations and requirements. Instructors will decide what to cover during the first week and which additional teaching tools to use (for example, recordings for asynchronous learning). These meetings will also serve as an important opportunity to practice remote teaching and learning, test the infrastructure that supports remote instruction, and identify and address technical issues in real time. This will help us better prepare both ourselves and our systems for the weeks following Passover, should remote instruction continue.

During the first week of studies (March 22–27), attendance will not be mandatory, and all sessions will be recorded so they can be viewed later, including during the Passover break. Instructors who, for personal reasons, are unable to teach next week are asked to contact their deans to arrange an alternative solution.

Guidelines for academic staff on preparing for remote instruction will be sent in the coming days through the secretariats of the academic units. At the same time, the Teaching and Learning Unit (YAHEL) will share information about training sessions and workshops on remote learning for those who are interested. We ask instructors to update the Moodle course page with the format in which next week’s class will be conducted. The Zoom meeting link should also be published on the course website to ensure that the session will be recorded through Panopto.

We would also like to inform you that the course registration change period will last two weeks. The registration system will open for changes on March 22 at 10:00 and will remain open until March 28 at 24:00. During the Passover break, the registration system will be closed because the university will be closed and departmental secretariats will not be available to provide support. After Passover, the second week of the change period will open on April 12 at 10:00 and will continue until April 18 at 24:00, at which point the change period will conclude.

As circumstances permit, we encourage students to use the coming week to complete assignments and coursework from the end of the first Semester.

We extend our deep gratitude to the students who are currently serving in the reserve forces or assisting in emergency and rescue efforts. Upon your return to your studies, we will make every effort to support you in completing the semester successfully, in accordance with the university’s framework for reservists and through additional accommodations where necessary.

We hope that the current emergency situation will come to an end soon and that we will be able to return to regular in-person academic activity and hold the examinations that were postponed. Updates regarding the format of studies after the Passover break and the new examination dates will be provided in due course, in accordance with the Home Front Command’s guidelines.

We look forward to returning to routine and meeting you again on the university campuses. In the meantime, we look forward to your participation in the first week of remote learning, which we consider highly important.

تحيّة وبعد؛

نُعلمكم بأنَّنا سنفتتح الفصل الدراسيَّ الثاني يوم الأحد القادم، الموافق 22 آذار بالتعلُّم عن بُعد. (يُرجى الانتباه إلى أنَّ يوم الأحد 22 آذار سيكون يوم تعليم، خلافًا لِما نُشر في التقويم الأكاديميِّ الأصليِّ). تبدأ عطلة عيد الفصح في موعدها المُقرَّر في 29 آذار، وفي 12 نيسان سنعود إلى الأسبوع الثاني من التدريس والتعلّم. سيُحدَّد نمط التعلُّم (في الصفوف أو عن بُعد) لاحقًا، وفقًا لتعليمات قيادة الجبهة الداخليَّة.

يُتيح أسبوع التدريس الأوَّل الذي يبدأ في 22.03 للمحاضرين والمحاضرات التعرُّفَ على الطلّاب والطالبات، عرضَ موضوع المساق وأهدافه، والاطلاعَ بشكلٍ تفصيليٍّ على المنهج التعليميّ في المساق ومتطلَّباته المتوقَّعة. يختار المحاضرون ما يُدرِّسونه في الأسبوع الأوَّل وأيَّ الوسائل الإضافيَّة سيستخدمونها (كتسجيل موادّ للتعلُّم غير التزامُنيِّ، على سبيل المثال). تُشكِّل هذه اللقاءات فرصة مهمَّة لتدريب أنفسنا على التدريس والتعلُّم عن بُعد، مع اختبار البنى التحتيَّة الداعمة لهذا النمط، وتحديد الأعطال وإصلاحها في وقت فعليّ. هذا كلُّه سيُمكِّننا من الاستعداد بصورةٍ أفضل - نحن والبنى التحتيَّة - للأسابيع التي تلي عيد الفصح، إن واصلنا  التدريس عبر الزوم.

في الأسبوع الأوَّل من التعليم (22-27.3)، لن يُلزَم الطلبةُ بحضور الدروس، وستُسجَّل اللقاءات لإتاحة مشاهدتها بعد الدرس وخلال عطلة عيد الفصح. أمَّا المحاضرون الذين لن يتمكَّنوا من التدريس الأسبوعَ القادم لأسبابٍ شخصيَّة، فيُطلب منهم مراجعة العُمداء للبحث عن حلٍّ مناسب.

تُرسَل التعليمات الموجَّهة إلى الأكاديميِّين للاستعداد للتدريس عن بُعد في الأيَّام القريبة عبر سكرتاريّات الوحدات الأكاديميَّة. وفي الوقت ذاته، ستُرسِل وحدة التدريس والتعلُّم (ياهل) إشعارات بشأن دورات تدريبيّة وورش حول التعلُّم عن بُعد، للراغبين في ذلك. نطلب من المحاضرين تحديث الصيغة التي سيُعقد بها الدرسُ الأسبوعَ القادم على المودِل. كما سيُنشَر رابط لقاء الزوم عبر موقع المساق لضمان تسجيل الدرس عبر panopto.

نُعلمكم أيضًا بأنَّ فترة التغييرات في التسجيل للمساقات ستمتدُّ لأسبوعين. يُفتح نظام التسجيل للتغييرات في 22.3 الساعةَ 10:00، وسيظلُّ مفتوحًا حتى 28.3 الساعةَ 24:00. خلال عطلة عيد الفصح سنُغلق نظام التسجيل، إذ ستكون الجامعة مُغلقة ولن تكون  سكرتاريّت الأقسام متاحة لتقديم الدعم والردّ على الاستفسارات. بعد عيد الفصح، سيُفتح الأسبوع الثاني من فترة التغييرات في 12.4 الساعة 10:00، ويستمرُّ حتّى 18.4 الساعة 24:00. في هذا الموعد تنتهي فترة التغييرات.

بقدر ما يُتيحه الوضع، ننصح الطلّاب والطالبات بتخصيص الأسبوع القادم لإكمال المهام والوظائف المتراكمة من نهاية الفصل الدراسيّ الأوَّل.

تحيَّةً عميقةً لطلبتنا الذين يؤدّون الخدمة الاحتياطيّة أو العاملين في أجهزة الإنقاذ في هذه الأيّام. وحين تعودون إلى الدراسة، سنبذل قصارى جهدنا لمساعدتكم كي تتمكَّنوا من إتمام الفصل الدراسيّ على أفضل وجه ممكن، وذلك من خلال تنفيذ الترتيبات الجامعيَّة الخاصَّة بمُؤدّي الخدمة الاحتياطيَّة، والملاءمات اللازمة عند الحاجة.

 

نأمل أن تنتهي حالة الطوارئ في أقرب وقتٍ، وأن نعود إلى النشاط الأكاديميّ الوجاهيّ المنتظم وإجراء الامتحانات التي أُلغيت. ستُرسَل إشعارات لاحقًا بشأن منهج الدراسة بعد عطلة عيد الفصح ومواعيد الامتحانات، وفق سياسة الدفاع في قيادة الجبهة الداخليَّة.

نتطلّع إلى العودة إلى الروتين للقائكم في الحرم الجامعيّ، وفي هذه الأثناء - نرحِّب بانضمامكم إلى الأسبوع الأوَّل من الدراسة عبر التعلُّم عن بُعد، الذي نوليه أهمّيّة بالغة.
