Update Regarding Instruction And Exams For The Remainder Of The Semester

9 April, 2026

Dear University Community,

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, we will resume in-person teaching and learning, in accordance with the Home Front Command guidelines. As we all know, classroom instruction plays a vital role in promoting high-quality teaching and learning. This is always the case, and especially so now, as we return to full academic activity following a difficult period and amid continued uncertainty.

We are aware that some members of our community are facing particularly complex challenges, and we are committed to making every effort to support students and faculty members who require special assistance.

During the first week of classes, mandatory attendance will not be enforced, except in courses that cannot be conducted remotely, such as clinical courses, training programs, laboratory courses, and language courses.

Exams postponed from the first Semester will take place beginning Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in accordance with the information provided—and to be provided—by faculty and departmental offices. Students eligible for a second exam date (Moed Bet) in a first Semester course may choose whether to take it during the second Semester or during a special exam session that will be held after the end of the semester.

During the semester, students taking a postponed exam from the first Semester may be absent from classes for up to five days prior to the exam (and up to a total of seven days throughout the semester), except in clinical, training, and laboratory courses.

To ease the burden on students who may find it challenging to balance exam preparation with second Semester studies, those eligible for Moed Bet will be granted a special option: they may leave the exam after at least 30 minutes and up to one hour without submitting it, and it will not be counted as an exam attempt. Please note that these students will be required to take the special exam session for the course. In other words, it will not be possible to leave the Moed Bet exam and retain the grade from the first exam.

We would like to express our deep appreciation and support for those serving in reserve duty and for their spouses. Academic units will support students in reserve service in accordance with the updated framework for the 2025–2026 academic year. We will do everything in our power to help you return to your studies and succeed.

Yours sincerely,

Tamir Sheafer, President
Oron Shagrir, Rector
