22 March, 2026
Dear Members of the University Community,
Today, the University opens the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, while the war is still ongoing. More than 1,500 students, along with members of the academic and administrative staff, are currently serving in reserve duty. In light of these challenging circumstances, most classes will be conducted remotely. We all hope that following the Passover break, beginning April 12, we will be able to return to in-person instruction.
Commencing the semester this week will enable us to conclude it as originally scheduled. Examinations that were postponed due to the war will take place throughout the second semester. Despite the many challenges, we remain hopeful that the teaching and learning experience will be both positive and meaningful.
We extend our warm greetings to our Muslim and Druze colleagues on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. We regret that, due to the shortened semester, we were unable to observe the planned day off from studies in honor of the holiday, originally scheduled for today, March 22. Soon we will celebrate Passover, followed by Easter. May these holidays bring quieter days of peace and fellowship.
Sincerely,
Tamir Sheafer, President
Oron Shagrir, Rector
Naama Kaufman-Fass, Vice-President and Director-General
