Launching Orbit System

15 December, 2024

Dear friends,

Tomorrow, Monday, December 16th, the university will launch the new student system, Orbit. This new system replaces the student systems that were established decades ago and will bring the university into the 21st century in terms of the user experience for students and applicants.

Student teams in the faculties are transitioning to a new online platform with a single, more accurate database, stronger infrastructure, and improved development potential.

Teaching secretariat and student teams underwent training and exercises over the past year, but despite this, it is still a significant change. During the initial phase, the teams' action times will be longer, and I ask everyone to show understanding and patience.

The staff of the Student Administration Division and the Information Systems Department will also be busy stabilizing the system and providing solutions to inevitable glitches.

We would like to update you about this major change. This is the largest system replacement since the university’s founding and serves thousands of applicants and over twenty-four thousand students, student teams, lecturers, researchers, administrative units, and more.

After stabilizing this system, the university will proudly be able to say that it has replaced all core systems: finance, human resources, and now—students.

I would like to thank the management of the Student Administration Division, the employees in it, the employees of the Information Systems Department, all the staff in the teaching secretariats and student teams, as well as the Orbit trustees among them, and many others from within, for the dedicated work done over an extended period.

This is a significant change that will benefit us all. We request the patience and understanding of those of you working with student teams, across all faculties and roles.

Best Regards,

Tamir
