"Update of the teaching plan until the end of the semester"

18 June, 2025

Dear Hebrew University Community,

We hope that you and your loved ones are healthy, and we extend our support during these difficult times.

In light of the ongoing security situation, which significantly affects all members of our community, it is clear to us that adjustments are needed as we approach the end of the academic year. These adjustments aim to enable all of us to complete the semester in the best possible way, with maximum consideration for the challenges faced by students and with maximum flexibility to ease the burden on both instructors and students during the remaining two weeks of the semester.

Accordingly, we have made the following decisions regarding instruction until the end of the academic year (July 4th):

  1. To ease the burden on students as much as possible, it has been decided that no new material that will be included in the final exam will be taught for the rest of the semester. Most of the time will be devoted to course summaries, review of course material in preparation for the exam, and/or providing guidance and support for the preparation of final papers or other concluding assignments. New topics that will be included in the exam may only be taught in exceptional cases and with the approval of the department head.
  2. Where exceptions are necessary—for example, in clinical instruction or mandatory hands-on training that is a prerequisite for a professional license—deans or vice deans for teaching in the relevant faculties will have the discretion to determine arrangements for completion, in accordance with the guidelines of each unit.
  3. Classes will continue to be held remotely via Zoom. They will be recorded, and attendance will not be enforced. Laboratories will not be held.
  4. Quizzes scheduled from June 15 until the end of the academic year are canceled. The final grade will be adjusted accordingly, in a way that does not negatively impact the student’s final course grade.
  5. Assignments given before June 13, with a submission deadline falling within the last three weeks of the semester, may be submitted late in coordination with the instructor. No new assignments will be given during this period, except in exceptional cases and with the approval of the department head.
  6. Instructors will update students as soon as possible regarding the teaching format for the coming two weeks and the material that will be covered.
  7. Adjustments and accommodations for reserve duty students will continue according to the existing framework.

We will continue to provide updates regularly, depending on the situation and the directives of the Home Front Command.
