Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif
Spiritual Head of the Druze Community
Chairman of the Druze Supreme Religious Council
Dear Sheikh Tarif,
We would like to express our sincere participation in the mourning of the Druze community and the State of Israel for the murder of the 12 children and teenagers - Fajar, Amir, Hazem, John, Izil, Finis, Yazen, Alma, Naji, Millar, Nadem and Jifara.
The pictures and stories of the boys and girls, the teenagers, overwhelm us with grief and shock. Each one has a story that was abruptly ended in such a short life span. There are no words to describe the loss and pain.
We all hope that we will not know any more such disasters, and that the personal and communal security of the sons and daughters of the Druze community and all residents and citizens of Israel will soon be restored.
We strengthen you at this difficult time and wish to reiterate our deep commitment to friendship, mutual respect, sanctification of the right to life and the continuation of fruitful working relationships between the Hebrew University and the men and women of the Druze community.
We support and stand by your side both in times of disaster and in normal times.
With great respect and deep friendship,
Prof. Asher Cohen, President
Prof. Tamir Sheafer, Rector
Mr. Yishai Frankel, VP and CEO
Prof. Mona Khoury, VP for Strategy & Diversity
Prof. Guy Harpaz, Dean of Students
