Update Concerning Second Semester Studies | February 2021

Dear Hebrew University students,

The University administration is working to renew teaching on campus in the second semester.  In coordination with the University’s team of experts, which advises the Israeli government, we are working hard to formulate a detailed plan that is designed to enable on-campus instruction while minimizing risk of infection, and is in accordance with the relevant regulations.

A key component of the plan is expected to be the granting of permission to attend classes on campus only to those who have been vaccinated (after at least a week has elapsed from the date on which the second dose of the vaccine was received), and for those who have recovered from the illness caused by COVID-19, or who present recent negative COVID-19 test results.  According to this plan, subject to classroom availability, those who are not vaccinated will be able to attend classes remotely, using Zoom.

Given that the time required from the date of the first vaccination to the development of antibodies is about four weeks, it is important that those who have not yet done so, get vaccinated in the coming days.

All members of the University administration and the deans have been vaccinated, as were almost all members of the academic and administrative staff. We all have a duty to combat the virus, through widespread vaccination. Non-vaccination is life-threatening.

Best regards,

Prof. Asher Cohen, President

Prof. Barak Medina, Rector

Mr. Yishai Fraenkel, Vice-President and Director General
