Security Updates for the Academic Faculty Members

26 November, 2025

Dear Faculty Members,

A few days ago, an anonymous website appeared online containing a list of Israeli researchers. The site included threats and suggestions of harm against those listed. Once discovered, access to the site was blocked throughout the country.

The incident is currently under investigation by Israel’s national security authorities, and we have ongoing contact with them for updates and guidance. Following the incident, the security authorities have also updated the recommended safety guidelines for travel abroad (attached). Below are several additional points:

A. Contacting researchers listed on the site – The Emergency and Security Division has reached out to the researchers whose names appeared, to discuss the matter in detail. If you noticed that your name appears on the list and you have not been contacted, please email the Emergency and Security Division at security@savion.huji.ac.il.

B. Travel warnings – If you are planning to travel, please check whether a travel warning has been issued for your destination on the National Security Council website (link provided). If the destination is subject to a Level 3 warning (medium threat) or higher, it is recommended to avoid any non-essential travel.

C. Extended stays abroad – Anyone staying abroad for an extended period (continuously for more than three months) is asked to inform the Emergency and Security Division at security@savion.huji.ac.il.

D. Accessing the website in question – It is likely that attempts will be made to bring the site back online, either under its original name or under a different one. Should this occur, please avoid accessing the site entirely, due to the risk of monitoring, tracking, or leaving an identifiable technological “signature.”

If you have any questions or need assistance, you may contact the university’s security center at +972-2-588-1000. The center operates continuously, every day, around the clock.

Sincerely,

Oron
